So someone just reminded me its February and I still have "happy new year" as my last post. How many languages can you say I've neglected my blog. I totally missed the Occupy Nigeria era, although I did have an opinion I wanted to blog about... Either way, its a new month yet again.

Anyone got valentines day plans? Its a weekday so luckily I don't have to consciously ignore what holiday it is cos ill be busy into work. Just incase you want to send me sumn tho, I can always forward my addy.

Although we're 15 days into the year already, I hear better late than never is better. Here's hoping everyone had an awesome break. As I must have mentioned, I spent 2 weeks back home in Lagos, Nigeria. And although my regular 'crew' decided to skip out this year and leave me solo, I had quite a blast regardless. There's nothing like being home with family and good friends.

I won't go into detail about the trip, but I must say Nigeria brings out the alcoholic in me... no really, it was actually kinda bad. Oh and I got to see & meet a whole bunch of celebrities. I sang Dami Duro with Davido at the Palms... sang Kontrol with W4 at some house party. Oh and at one point had to start dodging rapper Poe. I kept seeing him around everywhere I went, so I didn't want to be overly excited fan that was stalking him, lol! It was all good fun though. Now I do believe if I lived in Naij (ok I won't go there today)

Howdy folks,

I'm actually blogging.. shocker right? Well to fill you guys in the loop, life has been busy. On the bright side, work is over (once I take this exam thingy in the AM) and its straight vacay mode for the next 2 weeks. I'm mostly looking forward to the FOOD and for the first time, not much else. Most of my good buddies won't be in town so time to make new friends *sigh*

As usual, I always make resolutions and stick to about 4/5 out of 20. Which isn't too bad I should say. I haven't made any for the coming year yet so there isn't much to share, but will do if I remember.

Switching gears, a couple movies just came out / are out that I want to see - New Year's Eve, Mission Impossible 4, Sherlock Holmes 2. I really hope all these movies are out in Nigeria. I mean what's better than watching a movie with sugar popcorn... ok maybe a movie with sugar popcorn a sprite zero while wearing a snuggie/onesie :p The trailer to Men In Black 3 below.

I got this image off another blog I frequent Thorough Glass - check it out. But anyways it got me thinking and ill like to share 3 of the most important lessons I learnt this year with you lot. It should be common sense but..

1) Friends + money do not go together and if you decide to indulge in such, only give/borrow what you won't mind losing if its never returned.

2) When you think there's a slight chance there might be something with a certain other, ask if they've got a girl/boy/man/woman/baby friend. Sometimes assumptions are incorrect.

3) On a better note, life goes on.. Cliche I know, but ever think back at a time when you thought all hell was coming down on you but somehow you survived. Its my new mantra, whatever it is one way or another I'll get through it.

Okay that's it. If you know me I'm nowhere near packed for my trip tomorrow. I will try to blog from the motherland, but incase I don't. Many blessings and a great holiday season to you lot.

Black Friday.. scam & tings!

Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving.. I kinda had to read up on the holiday as apart from getting days off school/work I always wondered why people would need a day to be reminded of why they should give thanks. Anyways, I spent mine lowkey this year, no traveling. Just me, pops and my older sis. We skipped out on the turkey and went for lamb chops instead. I mean at this point in my life I'm tired of any kind of poultry. Then on to homemade-ish cookies and ice cream..

Now to the point of this post. My overly excited sis got me outta the house for the 12am shopping rush/whatever you call it. For someone who hates shopping (me) I was quickly fed up of the massive crowds. To top it off it seems like EVERYTHING I wanted was not on sale. I sure wasn't going to stand in line for an hour to check out 3 items at regular price. Needless to say the only sale I got was a black coat at Banana Republic for 40% off... and it doesn't even get that cold in GA.

My BB playbook I so had my eyes set on was sold out/ is sold out everywhere (even online). Some items I had been scouting weren't in stores meaning I came home to order them online. Which brings me to, if you're not camped outside one of the tech stores two days before Friday there really is no point buying into the Black Friday hype. I guess the past few years I traveled and was with friends I never noticed / we never went that early. My point is next year if I do decide on it, ill hit the stores at 9am. Not like I'll be missing much anyways.

Anyone get any good deals though? On another note, I'm home in 3 weeks *bbm dancing smiley*

So it's official, I made it through all 4 weekends in October... Just a re-cap last weekend I went to 'Taste of Atlanta' and a 'Miguel & Marsha Ambrosius' concert. This weekend was 'Jay-z & Kanye's Watch The Throne' concert and a friends birthday. As much fun as I had this month, it came with spending s#!t loads of money, only getting literally a few hours of sleep, missing deadlines (non-work-related) and a host of other things... It did certainly have its perks though. With that...

I need a new challenge for November. On my list is working out at least 5 times a week since I've seriously been slacking on the gym front... the other I can't make public lol. Anyways, drop a line (or bbm as most of you do) if you have any suggestions.

In entertainment briefly, you must have heard that D'banj just copped an Aston Martin Vantage Coupe. Personally, an aston is my all time dream car hence me posting. Although I would have gone with the uber exclusive one-77 if I had the cash. In case you're wondering the one-77 could buy 5 vantage coupes.

In other news, Kim K and Kris Humphries are getting divorced. Shocker..... NOT! I really hate to post this, but I can only imagine they shot the whole breakup in lieu of the next season of their show. Am I the only one wondering what could be wrong with Kim though. I mean, she's not ugly, not broke but can't keep a steady man. #LifesMysteries

So I decided to do something I've never done before, blog while intoxicated. I considered writing a program, as in Mark Zukerberg-esq but ill pass. Anyways, this would be a good time to update you on my "go out once a week tip" this month. So far so good.. I've gone out twice every weekend for the past 2 weekends in a row. Today was it for this week though, gotta see the grannies tomorrow.. plus I'm getting old, gotta rest. I must say its been fun though it doesn't hurt to let loose and live for a bit.

On another note, I'm quite hungry and could do with suya right about now. Weird right. Speaking of food, my job is an enemy of progress as I say. There's like food eeeeeveryday. Not forgetting the snack cabinet that stays fully stocked. I mean I even found starbucks hot chocolate a few days ago. *sigh* I think I gained a few pounds just thinking about food, lol! I miss my QC-b-ball-days metabolism.

Anyways, I'm sure you've all seen the news about King Bey's fake pregnancy. What do y'all think. I mean that video kinda looked sketch, but would someone who's in the public eye 18/5 (cos you really hardly see her 24/7 ) fake such a thing? Watch the video and drop your thoughts. Birthday blues..

Better late than never they say right.. so I figured I should post up pics from my birthday sometime. Not sure if I recap-ed but 2 of my sis' took me out for a "surprise" dinner at Tuk-Tuk - a modern kinda upscale Thai restaurant. Funny thing is it wasn't even that expensive. But trust me to run up the bill into the hundreds just because (its my birthday, I can do whatever)

I got myself the new BB 9900 and if I may say so myself a HUGE upgrade from my BB 8900 from 2 and a half years ago. I is it the track ball that can't click or the"I" button that dies and resurrects at will. Either way I loved that phone tho *sigh* .....and remember the "sunnies" I mentioned a while back. Well, they're their way thanks to the little ones :D

Ok enough birthday talk... I'm making october my "do something" month. Personally, I'm gettiing tired of being asked what's going on with me and I can only relay some work encounter or how tired I am from work or how I have to work on weekends *there I am doing it again*. So yes, I have to go out & do something fun at least ONCE a week and I'll be sure to tell you guys if I slip. I'm already 2 for 2 this month. I really want to have a picnic in the park, before it gets tooooo cold!

I probably should have titled the post 'who sent me'. I'm sitting here, on page 3 of what should easily be a 20 page report, due on Thursday and I keep getting distracted // I'd rather watch 90210 // I already graduated so why should I.

Well, na me put myself for wahala o! I love my job, God knows I do, but I got hired into a leadership program which entails 30+ weeks of writing reports aside from my actual work and me attempting to have a life. By the way, this is just week 1 - Jesus take the wheel!

Considering in a few minutes my meds would kick in, this would be quick. Not sure why, but I've been feeling like I got hit with a bulldozer the past few days. Blame it on lack of sleep from my weekend in NY/NJ or not... I just hope I'm better before my birthday next week.

Speaking of NY, I didn't have my stellar weekend as planned which shoulda included the US open and a re-enactment of Hangover 1, but it was great to hang with old friends and just chill pretty much - good times. Yes I haven't blogged in a while, but this is HUGE! My fav couple - Jay & B are having a baby! I'm happy for them, really. Remember my comment about calling Jay and 'agbaya' in the Otis video - well now I guess it makes so much sense. Dude, is / was just excited. I'm sad though, no Beyonce tour this year it means. And in other VMA news - Justin Bieber who looked like a lesbian (according to my buddy Ash) in his award speech said "I'd like to thank not only God but Jesus..." err... Justin, you forgot the Holy Spirit dude, might as shout out the whole trinity. Its just gross thinking that he and Selena Gomez are doing it though.. kids - smh!

Lady Gaga wasn't present, but her alter ego as a dude was. Chick is weird, strange.. and judge me if you will but I would not consciously listen to her music.

Adele's voice / performance was just beautiful. Her voice is ah-mazing!... Oh and Tyler the Creator won Best New Artist - when Frank Ocean is there. That said MTV has lost it. Not surprising though, they gave Britney Spears who hasn't danced in a few years some iconic award... Gotta say Jessie J stole the show even on one leg, lol! Okay I know that has nothing to do with her vocals, but girl can sing too... I'm waiting on Lil Wayne to get on stage so I can turn the TV off... Bey & Jayz's kid is already probably richer than 'Baby's money'...

Lastly, I saw Colombiana on Friday and Saturday - yes, back to back. That's probably gotta be the BEST movie I've seen all year. I hear 'The Help' is better but I can't say, haven't seen it. Sooooo if you've got $11 and some change to spare, go see it. My hype ends there.

Hey peeps,

Been a minute. I know I say this everytime I come on here, ah well…

What’s been going on in the world apart from random twitter fights. The day I partake in one is the day anyone who know’s me is free to slap me for the whole day. Anyways, after reading a few TLs I wasn’t remotely interested (or maybe I read the wrong ones). My point.. forget Red Bull, Twitter gives you wings.

Back to other relevant matters, I read there’s a Chigurl version to #Enigma somewhere. If you’ve got it pls send, I’ve missed her... So I went on a boat for the first-ish time two weekends ago and it was the coolest thing ever till I and my 1 week old weave got rained on; great experience nonetheless. Oh and last weekend, we went by my aunts for a bbq and saw them filming a scene for the real housewives of Atlanta. Well just Cynthia and her husband Peter. I wonder if my dad’s car would make the cut. Lol!

In entertainment… word is Jay-Z and Kanye album sold about 290K+ on iTunes alone. I mean that’s more than some artists sell over a span of 3 albums. No doubt it would be #1 on the charts although I wanted a tad bit more. I really need to stop expecting so much from artists. On the other hand if you’ve seen the Otis video was Jay-z acting like an agbaya or what?

Currently listening to P-square’s album and it sounds like I’ve heard all the songs before *yawn*. They should really be banned from making tracks longer than 3 mins cos afer that it becomes a bore. I love the track with tiwa savage and May-D though - Do As I Do. I just hope May-D’s album isn’t like YQ’s was; great on hooks on a solo track not so much.

Just realized I’m blabbing a little to much. Really just trying to distract myself from staring at the clock every 2 seconds. Like can today go by aaaaaany sloooooower ?

Does any one watch the new Tia & Tamera reality show? Have you noticed Tia’s always laughing while Tamera’s always crying.

Oh yea if anyone’s fasting Ramadan Kareem. Its not easy 5:30 – 8ish. I actually wonder how I manage to function everyday.

What I meant though is cos you're nice & cordial to someone and probably go watch a few movies together they get the wrong impression since you're willing to spend time with them you like them.. weird huh.

I saw this video on Titilayo's blog (the white chic who speaks yoruba, I'm sure you have all heard about) and its basically put me in a mood this morning. Yes, I am / was aware that Lagos is vastly populated and ranked the 10th most expensive slum in the world (if I'm not mistaken).

One quote stood out to me the most "by 2020... it [Lagos] may be the biggest single footprint of poverty on earth". The mini-documentary also states about 10,000 people move to Lagos weekly in search for a better life.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I truly do believe if other governor's play their part in developing mega cities in their states people would not have to move out in search for better lives. That said, I want to meet Gov. Fashola... someday... soon.

Bahamas trip II

Sat July 30 - We spent the morning driving around Nassau. No really, who knew you could drive a 22 mile island in 3hrs and not see it all. We did the same in the Cayman Island too, my dad believes you should take in ALL the place has and not just the nice tourist-y stuff.

After which we drove from one end of the island to another just for chinese, lol oh and witnessed a shooting on the beach. Okay not really, we were in traffic and some lady told us what happened (from what I could understand - she spoke too fast with an accent). Minutes later we saw a guy being held and the gun he used. Guess no country/island is above crime.

Later that night we went out to Marina Village on Paradise Island and the yachts in this place made me *sigh* ..as I always say, money is good. We hung around waiting for a mini-version of Junkanoo that Atlantis holds for guests. The real carnival takes place once a year I believe.

It was loads of fun and my baby sis even got to get in on the action. I had a video but blogger is being retarded about uploading stuff today. I'll add that to another post with just pics from the vacay later.

All in all, it was great family time / bonding and relaxing I must say. Wish we got to see Micheal Jordan, Tyler Perry, Oprah and other celeb cribs or islands, but as expected had "private restrictions". Ah well...

Bahamas trip

As promised, 2 weeks later...

Thursday July 28th - Thanks to Delta delaying my flight for a good 2+ hours I didn't get to the Bahamas till 10pm-ish and in true Mr. Daddy fashion, he already rented a car so he and my younger sis' came to get me at the airport (they left a day before I did). Got to the hotel, ate and fell fast asleep. I mean, I worked a full day earlier, babes were tired.

Fri July 29th - Woke up bright and early thanks to my 6am body clock and by 10am we were out and about walking around Atlantis which by the way is on Paradise Island where we stayed. Funny though, you cross the bridge back to Nassau (most popular island) and its like am I in the same country???

Anyways, Atlantis had water parks, lovely restaurants, got to see dolphins, beautiful scenery etc. After which we went on this "tour" my dad got scammed into signing up for. If you know those timeshare thingy's that's exactly what it was 3 hours wasted later (on the bright side though, it was free, included lunch and a mini 30 min tour at the end) ..we went to the beach :D

Quick post before I start my 30mins before I leave the house packing.. which has become a habit by the way. I saw these Gucci shades a few days back and they've been on my mind the whole time. Only thing is its a want not a need... like I NEED a new phone, and frankly it costs almost the same maybe even more.

My moms keeps saying to me "o man mura bi ole" literal translation "you dress like a lazy person" what she meant "you work now, spend your money on yourself".

Hey guys, its been a minute and I truly apologize.. if anyone cares apart from Maltina. Anyways, its been a hectic two weeks. The fam's around yay, but I've been thrown way off my daily routine and I pretty much can't function without a schedule. Basically everything takes a back seat till they're all in bed or I wake up mad early to get stuff done - hence this post at 6am.

Waddup peoples.. this past weeks been quite a good one. No, nothing out of the ordinary happened, but it just went smoothly for the most part.

Just got done watching the USA v Japan world cup final match. Interesting one, and I'm happy Japan won. They deserved the win. Now for the next 4yrs American's won't even acknowledge soccer and its existence. Speaking of the sport, I should be receiving my ManU jersey soon :D

and what's with all them domestic killings though? First it was the Nigerian dude that stabbed his wife on his bday. I think there are pictures online, but I'm not that brave to look. Then the lady who chopped her husbands penis and ground it up before the cops came. I mean, can you say SICK! Fear dey catch me to marry oo! Lol!

I had like a whole list of things I wanted to blog about on Friday, but just never got to it and now I can't remember :(

Might as well keep on the Beyonce spirit. If you frequent this blog you should know I have a special love for Jay & B so when I saw this mini-documentary over the weekend I was a bit blown and gained a little more appreciation for Beyonce's album. Scratch my previous 6/10 rating, it gets an 8. Lol!

My fav parts are from 19:00 till the end. The scenes of them 2 just sigh.. Anyways, if you've heard the album, what are your fav tracks. My top 3 are - Countdown, Start Over & Party.

And I'm excited for a few reasons. First off, I get to see my family in 2 weeks, we're all off to the Bahamas a week after that (I really need a break), ShowDemCamp (SDC) has an album coming out, and oh yea, I start work with a new group tomorrow :s

So much eh.. well its July 4th today! If anyone's BBQ-ing please lemme know, its still early. Lol! Anyways, I've pretty much spent my 3 day weekend on pain killers so I didn't quite do anything special. Saw, transformers 3 and Bad Teacher. Not bad, not awesome, just okay movies I guess. But the trailer to Mission Impossible 4, now that got me excited. Check below.

In entertainment, Amber Rose tweeted this morning she'd love to be at the Music Meets Runway show this Saturday in Lagos, but she hasn't been contacted. I would go off on event promoters on not getting their stuff together as in the EME tour of recent, but I guess a lot really goes into planning these events and you can't say what could go wrong. Saturday isn't that far away, guess we'll see.

This years summer show has to be SUITS on USA. Now if you haven't watched it you're only 2 episodes behind. I suggest you get on it.

New track from Drake - Marvins Room. There's also versions from Jojo, Teyana Taylor, Chris Brown and Sammy. I think Jojo had the best one though.

So apparently there's a documentary coming out soon about Dark Girls. Well from the title you can already tell its one of those Dark vs Light skinned issues. Weeeeell people, I say its only in this America they make an issue outta everything. I was taught / learnt / grew up thinking & knowing "Black is beautiful". I watched the clip, but I definitely wont be watching the documentary.

Hope they find closure and acceptance in themselves and they should please teach their kids to love themselves. Black don't crack - beleee dat!

Scenario 1 – Out of boredom, I hung out with a friend this past weekend who I’ve managed to avoid for about 3 months now. You know one of those dudes that don’t accept no. Anyways..

Him: Have you been working out? You look trim?
Me: Yea a bit. Thanks

Like really though, why do people do that. I would never dish out a compliment just so I can get one back. Anyone who knows me, would know I rarely do so anyways, and if I should then I absolutely mean it. And okay I know about telling little white lies sometimes to spare someone’s feelings, but I wasn’t about to tell one so that my eardrums could bleed. Eh, ill pass

Hey folks, its been a while for good reason though - been busy with work, work and yea, more work. Anyways, its time for another of my random posts.

First up, I'm just coming off Bella Naija and I read a very interesting post about lagos traffic. Read Here. I didn't have to read it to know its contents because I see status updates about it on a regular. Anyways, on the bright side on Governor Fashola's site, I see the Ekorail is still under way and the governor's actually in Canada inspecting 'stuff' to be used.

Apparently gOOgle chrome has an app store. And the oh-so-famous game 'Angry Birds' is on there for free. I keep hearing about it. I'll probably check it out once I'm done here.

Slight digression, I'm so very not impressed with Musiq Soulchilds new album. I can say I only really like one song on there. Well that makes choosing which concert on July 16th to attend between his and M.I an easy one.

Sidenote: Have you noticed its rich people that say "money isn't everything".

I started the insanity workout vids. 3 days in and walking is heels is just painful. Right now, I'm actually glad my job entails me to sit.

There are battle scars and then there's popcorn scars. You know the one where you can't wait and you take the lid off and the oil just gets on ya. Yup, I've got like 3 (really tiny spots though) on my arm.

I miss when twitter was fun and all about #TT's. Now everybody wants to be somebody. I started working on this app that tells you who you're following and isn't following you and vice versa. Well its done-ish. Maybe I should finish it up.

So I found myself watching BBC America with all those Will & Kate specials in preparation for the Royal Wedding. You all saw the wedding so I won't say much about it, though a couple of things concern me.

1) The whole 'royalty' thing came about during the days of slave trade right, so that fact that its still being held to such high regard, I mean what does that say. Oh and anyone hear the reference to Kate as just a 'commoner' in one of those many specials I mentioned.

2) I believe monarchs still exist in other countries, France for example, but no way is there such "noise" about any of their events.

3) Back to my first comment. The UK still collects tides/tax from islands and countries in the commonwealth. No?

*abeg, these are just opinions of the slightly sleepy writer*

But that's all I'll say. I really wish them the best of luck and Kate did look gorg in that dress. Will is balding a tad bit too fast tho :s ...Anyways, Harry's more my type - you know that badboy-esque + we share a birthday :)

This won't be long either since after my 2 day trip on the East coast - partying both days, and only getting one hour of sleep - my body has kinda shut down. As the title says, old age. A friend calls me her "human google" others say 9 out of 10 times I'm never wrong. Blame it on my thirst for knowledge, although sadly I didn't emulate such interests in my college classes.

As I was saying, the use of technology has its perks, one of which is finding and connecting with old friends. On the reverse end, it doesn't take much to find a certain person you thought you've left behind knowing contact is only a click of a button away. I'll man or should I say woman up, do the #KanyeShrug thing and keep it moving. Life's pretty darn good right now.

Sooo quite a lot happened in my dear country over the past week and seeing as some of you are busier than I am, I'll use this post to update you...

Starting off, word is that we are reviving the train transport system in Nigeria. Never knew this was on GEJ's list of things to do, but I applaud him for it. The train went from Lagos to Ilorin and supposedly took some long hours. They need to work on the speed & I think this is definitely something Nigerians would make use of... in the future. And in Lagos, if you got on the Eko Atlantic wave when talks of it first started,apparently 2.4 million square meters of land has now been reclaimed. Actually waiting to see how this pans out. May we not see Tsunami for Lagos o! And in light of the recent accidents (or not) that have killed many I was happy to read the Lagos state government urging the removal of abandoned vehicles from the streets. Kudos on this and I think all states need to do this as well.

I wish I wrote this post the first time I read that letter cos I had so much anger in me. I can't count how many discussions on Nigeria I have had this year alone and we all come back to saying the same thing. My first problem, if anyone knows please tell me how many debates they have in the US/UK/any other country that the CURRENT president who is running for a re-election DOES NOT attend. I'm sorry but GEJ not showing up to this second debate either, has lost A LOT of credibility from me. Agreed that anyone can standat a podium and tell us what we want to hear, but at least they were present. I haven't watched the second debate, but I intend on doing that in a few hours when I find it, but to be honest if I held a voters registration card, at this point I do not know who I'd be voting for. It seems like the same cycle of having unqualified *&%$%*%^ trying to rule our country isn't going to change for now.

One thing that stood out to me the most was from the first debate. Someone mentioned that 26% of the country's budget should be for education. When 75% goes to paying government officials HOW IS THE OTHER 25% SUPPOSED TO COVER 150 MILLION PEOPLE? Answer me that and we can speak. Fashola, please in the next 4 years, run for president.

Oi mates, its been one helluva week. A whole 270 degrees from last week, but God dey! Loadsa things have been happening so for once ill spare you from my ~~boring~~ personal issues with life.

First off, I woke up to the horrid situation in Japan a few mornings ago like everyone else. Lets just say, I did not complain once that day. May the souls lost rest in peace and to those who've lost loved ones and their homes, only things we can do are DONATE and PRAY.

Clearly GEJ knew he wasn't showing up to the presidential debate today so I guess that's why he had that aired before. A couple of things, why did D'banj interview the president of Nigeria? For the youths? There are a handful of organizations out there #EnoughIsEnough #WhatAboutUs and i'm very sure none of these organizations were met with to find out what pressing questions needed to be asked. As we all know, the past 2 years Nigerians have become obsessed with Blackberry phones. In short, I'm going to look up their stocks from 2008 and compare it to now. There's a Nollywood movie "BlackBerry Babes" that premiered online yesterday and my sis highlighted a good few points. As dumb as it is, it does highlight what really does happen. BBMing in class, girls selling out for phones, casting out people because they don't have phones. All in all, it shows we as a people are quite frankly shallow. [my opinion] I'm thinking maybe #TeamIphone? ...... NAH!

I'm blogging more often now and y'all have been quiet on here lately. Change that :p

Ok. Today has to be like the best day ever this week. First off, I was very productive at work and had a breakthrough on my project. Secondly, I found out I dont have to take the GRE again and get another masters phew! I'm still going for the MBA later though. And lastly, my boss over at that1960chick.com is gonna send me over music from new upcoming artists to listen to and erm, sort through basically. Some of y'all would be thinking more work, but I see it as my A&R future budding slowly.

In a way, I kinda wish I took 6 months off for "NYSC" and get to connect and hook-up with people in Nigeria. I know its not as easy as it sounds, but like Industry Night at Tribeca would definitely be a good way to network and such. Anyways, Lent is here - what are you giving up?

Hey folks, its been a crazy week so far and its only Tuesday! I thought I'd have the weekend to do things, but clearly that didn't work out. Looking forward to Friday already *sigh*

Sidenote: I just came across a blog and it really inspires me when people execute their visions. No, not everyone has to be an engineer or doctor to be successful. Don't get me wrong, I love the way my bank account looks now, but I think it'd be great to have a mentor or at least someone in the music / entertainment industry who can teach me the ropes. so its 1:24am I should be sleeping, but a certain ping has triggered this post. I was going to write an article on BBM etiquettes, but never got around to it. Banky W just recently wrote a post on it and I couldnt agree with it more - Read here. Now, to add my personal tidbits...

Doesn't it just annoy you when a person in the name of abbreviating spells out words in ways that take minutes just to comprehend. When "how" and "haw" are both 3 letters why the heck would you need to change it. Oh, and not to talk of "your" becoming "yurh". A LOT of victims on my bbm have insulted me at least once because I WILL correct you. Not to come off better-than-thou, but after correcting, my only response to such would be "LOL" or the "bbm straight face emoticon". Please don't let your fathers money waste by typing like a retard. Don't even let me start on the new "I am" becoming "AM". I mean, even IcePrince has a song called "Am So" *sigh*

Moving on, not to downplay what "work" anyone in Naij does but those people stay tweeting 24/7. I try my best to reply while at work, infact I think I must be labeled the girl with the phone about now cos in the sake of not being called "mean" I try to reply bbms. But no, thats not enough. I reply 10 mins after and its like 5 PINGS already waiting. Or "which work are you doing sef". Lets not forget I have to drive in 1hr traffic after I get off at which time said people are asleep, by the time I wake up "dear, why are you ignoring me" or "because you're working now you've forgotten boys". Erm, if I pinged all 60+ of my contacts everyday, I will achieve NOTHING.

So much for my 3 day weekend, lets just say none of it turned out as planned. First up, my boo left me so I'm back to living alone *sad face*. None of the work I planned to do got completed and lets just say finding music for my new blog isn't as easy as I thought.

As I'm straightening my extremely nappy hair - yes the weave is out - I remember a question someone asked me. What would a perfect vals day be? I remember saying "nothing actually dont think i'll want the cliche dinner date". Anyways, I tried to think up what could be fun that I'd actually enjoy and came up with probably the cheapest date ever.

Starting off at best buy. I mean c'mon from playing guitar hero to NBA live to watching half a movie on the huge ass TV screens (they usually have huge couches in front of them too), music etc. I could go on, but yea phase two would be lunch. Where else but Sam's Club where you can taste all you want by just walking around. They even have deserts too, hehe! On to phase three where you have some sort of supermarket sweep at Walmart. Each person picks out whatever to be used at the end of the date.

sidebar: items should be *cough* age appropriate & to any dudes reading this, this cheap date would probably only fly ONCE. lol!

Anywho's.. who watched the grammy's last sunday? I missed the red carpet, but my quick recap of the show. Erm... what the *bleep* was CeeLo wearing. I mean, no grown straight man should ever sport such a costume - EVER! Gotta say though, I never knew Gwyneth Paltrow could sing. And Lady Gaga arriving in an egg wasn't even bad, anyone noticed the flesh covered horns she's been sporting of late? That chic needs Jesus asap!

My favorite moment of the night was "Best New Artist" - the look on Beibers face was priceless. I'm soooo sure he thought he had it in the bag. I had heard of the Esperalda chic a few times before and to be honest, never looked her or her music up. Need to do so though. Any other of your favorite moments, please share...

Almost forgot, I heard little Willow said [and i'm paraphrasing] that she feels good knowing that when people listen to her music, their lives are changing... OMG! Like how did she know "whip my hair" changed my life. LOL! Really though, they need to up that chics home-schooling curriculum. #JustSayin. I still love the Smiths tho :)

Hey folks,

Happy New Year. So sorry its taken this long to post, but I've been on vacation mode these past few weeks and just got back... Sadly, I'm already breaking one of my resolutions which is to blog more [forgive me]. Anyways, ill go ahead and share a couple others with you in no particular order.

1. I wont be where I am without God, so big shout out to him. 2010 wasn't my best year, but I had a lot to be thankful for regardless and by his grace, even more blessings this new year so its only right that I read my Quran more & get closer to him.

2. As I have a couple of blogs I'm a registered contributor to (excluding this one) im starting off with at least one post per month on each which should average about 4 posts per month errr starting Feb maybe. Yikes!

3. Those close to me have probably heard me talk of one idea or the other. My aim this year is to act on at least one of them once I get my daily routine in shape that is.

4. A huge part of what I hope to accomplish this year is self growth. I've started changing a few things about me both physically, mentally and believe it or not emotionally... and the best part of it all is, its FOR ME.

5. The most important one of all, as always is to be HAPPY!

It turns out I had one post saved as a draft that never made it on, meaning this isnt the 200th post but the 199th. Lucky me I guess since I had absolutely nothing planned for it yet. Since y'all want more "gist" here goes.. Seeing as the MAMAs just concluded I know some haters would be on BellaNaija as soon as the pics come up. But you dont have to wait though, visit that1960chick.com. One of the nights performances were Eve & Sasha. I'm just thanking God Sasha can finally get rapping tips from Eve. At least she's not as bad as Kel who makes me want to pick up a mic whenever I hear her. Then uncle Banky finally changed his shades oh [Hallelujah] but dude has over-rocked this whole white & black suit sturvs. Biko, add color to it or something! And my hating ends there :)

Hey ~~blog fam~~ diary,

Its been a few crazy weeks and luckily just one more to go. Quick re-cap / update.. I was in Dallas, TX last weekend for thanksgiving and I had a whole lotta fun. I would have posted pics but they could be used against us in the future, lol. I made some new friends that are gonna be in Naij as well so Dec is looking up once again since ALL my friends decided to skip coming home this year *sigh*

I'll officially be done with everything for this degree on the 16th [im hoping im well done before then] and then graduation on the 17th. Since my parents have decided not to show up [i feel like im the adopted first-born sometimes] I'm gonna use this as money collecting opportunity :D

Oh, and a little good news.. I haven't met my goal yet, but as at Sunday this week, I've officially lost 22lbs. Hopefully I dont gain it all back in Naij [suya, shawarma, Mr. Biggs, TFC, Reeds, Chicken Republic, sugar popcorn, ofada rice, palm oil stew, househelps legendary jollof... ok, lemme stop]

Erm.. what else! Its almost 2011 and I thank God for making it this far. If you notice up top, there's a new tab named "Music Reviews" its got links to all the music related stuff I have online so far. More to come hopefully. Watch this space :)

Its almost Turkey day... what are you thankful for?! Well, I've got a lot of things, but I wont start listing them on here except I'm thankful to have friends and family that believe in my [many] ideas. Lets just say 2011, we coming!!

Sooo, I've spent the past week listening to loads of MUSIC; loads of albums.. I'll give you my ratings of them below.

Rihanna - Loud - 4.5 /5

This chic can do no wrong on her album. I know she doesnt write her own songs, but she definitely has an ear for picking out what works... or she has a great team behind her.

Kanye West - My Dark Twisted Fantasy - 4/5

Okay, I would have given him 5/5 but I hate I had heard a lot of the songs before they came out. But the production on this is CRAZY!

Durella - Reconfiguration - 3/5

Shocker right! I have to write a review for this but was very reluctant thinking I'd have to take pain meds before I'm even done, but.. the album isnt half bad. He kinda kept the same tempo all thru but some good hits on there.

JCole - Friday Night Lights - 4/5

Bros right here is too deep sometimes sha, lol.. still tho you forget this is a free mixtape. Some darn good music on here. Cop it now!

Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday - 3/5

Mehn, the biggest disappointment off all albums I listened to, she's better off featuring on peoples tracks.

...And Kim Kardashian may have found herself another boo. They do look HOT together sha.

I cant count how many times I've said this before, but ill say it again - iLive for music (well God first ofcourse, then family). Anyways, I finally watched the "Black Girls Rock" show that aired on BET sometime last week and I have to say I saw some great performances. One in particular had me rewind a couple of times. It was a rendition of Nina Simone's "Four Women" by Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott and Ledisi.

Okay I wasn't really lost but ill start first by apologizing for neglecting my blog. Some of you know that I had one hell of a crazy week and you don't understand how excited I am to have a week off. That said, how about we dive right into some entertainment..

I know celebrity divorces are no surprise, all divorces really, but I don't think anyone saw Courtney Cox and David Arquette's one coming... or Christina Aguilera and Mr. Aguilera. Whatever bug is going around, it better not reach me. (off which another friend just got engaged, seems my clocks ticking -- oh the pressure)

We've all been waiting, (at least I have) for Asa to burst back onto the scene, which she has with her new single "Be My Man". Her album "Beautiful Imperfection" (love the name by the way) should be out sometime this year.

So err.. the Kardashians are getting yet another show. "Kim & Khourtney in NY". Gotta give them props though, they keep capitalizing on being famous for doing nothing. They must really love this reality thing is all ill say. Kim went on and on about the leaked sex tape, said she regretted doing playboy, now she has her clothes off on the cover of W. Chic is confused I say; what do you guys think?

Speaking of reality shows, theres one with a new spin on it. Created by Seth Green, basically there's a live stream of some guy where the viewers get to vote on things he should do throughout the day. Its almost 11pm and I'm already sleepy, but as promised here's a quick overview of what's hot in the entertainment industry.

Paris Hilton pleaded guilty to the "white stuff" found in her car and somehow avoids jail time. Lindsay Lohan failed a drug test so jail can't be too far behind for her. Bruno Mars, yea the guy who got popular from doing the chorus on B.o.B's - Nothing on You has also been charged for drug possession. I mean, what's wrong with these people.

The NEA awards took place this past weekend and while I can tell you the winners and losers, I'll chose not to. I can direct you to a link if you wish though. Anyways, apparently at the after-party seeing as Iceberg Slim and M.I were present, DJ Zimo figured a freestyle battle could only be fit.

"I'm tired of all these Nigerian rappers, who write rhymes down and claim a freestyle after" Iceberg definitely freestyle-d and M.I seemed to have had his written somewhere, but that's just me. Whatchuthink?

I really didn't want to see the movie "The Town" over the weekend, but went anyways and I must say its pretty dope. Kinda similar to "Takers" but waaaaay better though. So if you've got a little spare change, its worth it.

Not a huge John Legend fan, but his album with The Roots is being released tomorrow. Haven't listened but I know it would be great. ps - anyone listened to the Trey Songz album yet? I would but I just refuse to have it on my iTunes library - for another month at least.

Gossip Girl tonight as usual was HAWTTT!! I'm really considering recording the whole season and waiting till the night of the season finale and just watch it all up till then bcos this one week waiting aint sexy at all. hehe!

I was holding off blogging all week so I don't bombard you with posts, but forget all that. Yes, the big day was Wednesday and I'm proud to say I was in my PJ's lounging on the couch with my famous homemade sugar popcorn ALL DAY, well till about 7pm and you know the rest.

Found myself attending yet another free dinner on Thursday at "Loca Luna". And then on to Friday's "Aja" runs. I must say, I did a good job on the restaurant choice. Apart from getting lost trying to find the place, it had a very nice ambiance, I thought the food was GREAT, especially this one beef sauce that tasted like SUYA. Mayne, best believe I'm going back for more. lol!

iDigress: I most certainly do not claim all holier than thou, but we know what we know today because we stepped out of the box to try something new.

That said, no one really made a decision about where to go afterwards. I mean going to the one african club is alright but not every weekend so I hit up my favorite Ethiopian chill spot - Mint.

Lets just say I smoked more hookah last night than I've done ~~all year~~ in my lifetime. Had ~~one two~~ too many drinks & cupcakes to the point I had to take mini-breathers, hehe! Which brings me to another point, you can ALWAYS have fun with the right people. Shoutout to @MissYembra, @RudeGiiaL, @ethiopianchick1, older sis and her 2 buddies...and Ash & uncle B for making it out to dinner. It was definitely close to being an epic night!

So now all the birthday talk is officially over. Can't even believe I'm even up this early, but if you know me I'm all about the paper, lol! Normal entertainment / music / news posts would resume shortly after a few commercial breaks [later this weekend that is]

Its 5 days till my birthday, so the "all-about-me" attitude is still allowed. So far, I have a business dinner [with recruiters where I did my summer internship] on my birthday but I'm thinking having a small 6-8 person dinner over the weekend. 3 choices so far - rooftop bar at the W [shayo on deck], Spice Market [the-extremely-expensive-small-portioned-I'm-still-hungry-didn't-understand-the-menu] or Aja - [classy asian food]. What do y'all think, take the poll.

I am officially scared to check my gmail now, that's what I get for forwarding my school email to it. It's just the second week of school and I'm already dreading it. That MBA is looking like a long thing now; gotta think about if I want to go through this again. The birthday countdown has begun. I've only ever had 2 birthdays EVER, my 1st and 18th. I spent my 21st last year in school with a dead phone till about 9pm - very non-memorable! This year's gonna be different though. 6 years here and I still don't understand the yankee way of inviting people out who pay for themselves [which isn't even bad to some degree] but then their idea of a present is buying your $20 dinner like err.... wtf! So people residing in ATL I'd actually be happy to spend on *lemme count* ..guess its just gonna be my and the little sis.

iDigress - is it only in ATL dudes that exhibit extreme cheapskate-ness and get to the club at 10pm just so they don't pay to enter? Smh.. lol

Sadly, the summer's over and school starts tomorrow. On the bright side, this is my last semester at GaTech and I loooove my schedule. 2 classes 2 days a week - I so need to make some serious travel plans :)

This was supposed to drop on July 29th, but the release date has been pushed back. If I read correctly somewhere its now on Aug 13th. I've heard "Thinkin Bout U" and "Little Monster" so far, and if the other tracks are up to par as these, this would be a better mixtape than his first.

Bigz - Starman

Release date is set for Aug 22nd. Again, if this is anything like his first, its good enough for me. Hopefully, someday, Nigerians would accept Nigerian rappers that don't infuse native / cultural languages [or pigeon] because Bigz has some tight punch-lines.

Drake

Dude is still riding on his first album release "Thank me later" but already has an R&B mixtape in the works. I imagine it wouldn't disappoint, but then again I can only listen to so much Drake at a stretch.

I'm finally back in atlanta and the days are going by rapidly. School starts in less than 2 weeks, but I'm excited to get it over and done with. Have a good rest of the week!

And in other related news, Slum Village dropped what is their 6th studio album today. First track ill be listening to is "The Reunion Pt. 2" The part 1 still remains one of my favorite tracks off "Detroit Deli" album. Anyways, my library has grown 2000+ songs this summer. How I wish I had my iPod. {considering a Zune now too}

Omaha Diaries IX: The Final Chapter

5d 17hrs 46mins 52secs and counting. Yes, my countdown is so cool it has it down to the seconds. Well, Friday can't come soon enough for so many reasons. Its the same day I get to give my presentation to all the IT execs and I get to see my mummy {*HuGe grin*}

Its been a slightly rough 11 weeks. This time last year I never in a million years thought I'd come back here, goes to say no one knows what life holds. Hopefully any return trips would be holiday related [major sarcasm] Met a few great people, countless bad ones; and all in all, it was ~~fun.. memorable... enjoyable~~ just okay.

On the bright side, I'm off to Kansas City, Missouri with a few friends tomorrow to watch the Manchester United game. Its one of my goals to attend at least one live game in each sport, but I've still got a long way to go. Not much to say, havent kept up with much enetertainment lately apart from the Nigerian couple that gave birth to a white kid. In my opinion, its one of 2 things. Its really a true genetically related miracle-ish OR the woman's been creeping and the dude is quite gullible. Story Here

Nneka on CNN

First time I heard about Nneka was last December in Naij; the video "Heartbeat" was playing on some TV station and I remember thinking, hmm.. this is different. Saw her a couple of weeks later at Rhythm Unplugged and the reaction from the crowd was saddening as no one was listening or cheering. Fast forward to February when she had a show in ATL. This time, I wasn't surprised that 90% of the crowd wasn't Nigerian. If you ever get the chance to see her live, do so. She's sounds better than her album + she engages the crowd. Certainly a true performer. She was recently featured on CNN [which I'm about to watch now]. I'm sure we're to hear more great things about her. Enjoy!
